About Us

Our Story

Singing Community started in 2017 from a frustration we couldn't shake. We were singers ourselves, looking for honest reviews of online vocal courses, microphones, and training programs. What we found instead was a sea of cookie-cutter affiliate content. Every site claimed every product was "the best," with no real testing to back up the claims.

So we built the resource we wanted to use.

Today, our team of vocal coaches, working singers, and gear reviewers test every course and product we recommend. We've completed full courses for 10+ singing programs, recorded with 70+ microphones, and built relationships with 5,000+ readers who trust us to give them straight answers.

Our mission is simple: help you skip the marketing fluff and find the resources that will actually improve your voice.

What Makes Us Different

Most singing review sites operate the same way. They sign up for an affiliate program, write a quick "review" without ever using the product, and call it a day. The goal is volume, not accuracy.

When we review a singing course, our team enrolls in the actual program. We complete the lessons, do the exercises, and use the included tools. Each course gets weeks of testing before we publish a verdict. We measure what we can measure (vocal range progress, pitch accuracy improvements, time to first results), and we honestly describe what we can't.

When we review gear, we record with it. Microphones get tested in real recording sessions across multiple voice types. Headphones get evaluated against industry-standard reference monitors. Every product comes back with our honest assessment, including the drawbacks competitors won't tell you about.

We also publish what doesn't work. If a popular course has serious flaws, we say so. If a heavily-marketed microphone underperforms, we report it. This sometimes costs us affiliate income, but it's the only way to be a resource our readers can actually trust.

Who This Site Is For

Singing Community exists for singers at every stage of the journey, but we focus especially on the people most often overlooked by traditional vocal coaching:

Beginners who want to improve but can't afford private lessons at $50-150 per hour. Our reviews and guides help them find affordable online programs that teach the same fundamentals at a fraction of the cost.

Intermediate singers stuck on a plateau. They've learned the basics but can't break through to the next level. We help them identify what's holding them back and recommend courses that address their specific weaknesses.

Self-taught vocalists who learned by ear and want to fill in the technical gaps. We point them toward structured curricula that build on what they already know.

Hobbyist singers who don't want a career, just enough skill to enjoy karaoke nights, sing at family gatherings, or record covers for fun. We help them find the right level of investment for their goals.

Aspiring professionals who want serious training without conservatory tuition. We review the programs, gear, and resources that working singers actually use.

If you're singing for any reason, in any genre, at any skill level, we've probably created content for you.

How we are funded

Transparency matters, so let's be upfront about how Singing Community stays online.

We earn money primarily through affiliate commissions. When you click a link in one of our reviews and make a purchase, we may receive a small commission from the company. This costs you nothing extra, and it's what allows us to keep producing free content for the community.

Here's what affiliate income does NOT do:

  • It doesn't determine which products we recommend. Our top picks are chosen based on testing and merit, not commission rates.
  • It doesn't change our scoring criteria. We use the same evaluation framework whether we earn $5 or $200 per sale.
  • It doesn't influence our rankings. We've moved high-commission products down our lists when better alternatives existed, and we've ranked low-commission or zero-commission products as #1 picks when they deserved it.

Read more about our exact testing process on our How We Review page, or see our Affiliate Disclosure for full transparency about our relationships with vendors.

We also occasionally accept review samples from companies for gear testing. These samples never come with conditions on what we write, and we always disclose when a product was provided for review. Most of the products we test, however, are purchased with our own money.
